I have started the training. I made a decision to do some walking as a start and chose carefully my training ground I am so lucky to have a fantastic (and flat) 2 mile circuit around Roath park to use to start my training. What is more there are loads of other people of all shapes and sizes making their way around the park, so I don't feel out of place.
There are of course those who clearly know what they are doing, but most are more like me, and my wife/training partner. I bought 'good' trainers a few years ago and have used them to do a lot of walking, so figured they should be ok to get me started. We decided to do a lap of the park, 2 miles in distance at a fast walking pace. School boy error on the trainers as they feel like they have a stone in them, bit when I checked there was nothing! Will try them again tomorrow. 2 Miles took us 33 minutes, at this rate we can do a marathon in 6.5 hours, but it does mean keeping to that pace....that may take a bit more work.
